consists of a new-build community hub & shinty pavilion for the residents of the clachan of glendaruel, developed by the colintraive and glendaruel development trust. the building is conceived as five components: the landscape: a green roof rising from the landscape which creates a high-level viewing platform to observe the shinty game, increases biodiversity and reduces the visual impact of the building. the skin: a charred timber clad element which envelopes the building and extents to provide a protective edge to the viewing platform. the glass wedge: creates 270 degree views of the topography rises to partly conceal the depth of the single storey community centre. large, recessed entrances are formed from the street, forming anterooms - landscaped thresholds which help to mediate between the street and the inner courtyard. the inner walled garden is formed by placement of buildings. the main building - the community centre - forms two elevations to the garden, each subdivided into brick bays offering large glazed openings.the walled garden and the righly planted and protected enclosure forms an additional room and is enclosed on opposite sides by a series of
